Scope sets sights on UK growth with Powell Williams LLP

The charity Scope has appointed Powell Williams to advise on its commercial property acquisition programme in the UK.

Powell Williams will provide expert surveying advice pre-acquisition and will also conduct inspections and reports on behalf of the disability charity, which is aiming to open as many as 15 new shops in the next year.

The charity hopes the strategy to build their high-street presence will provide it with a sustainable source of income for its work with disabled people and is funding the expansion by giving donors the chance to 'sponsor a shop' - a scheme where donors can loan or donate money to help Scope open a new shop.

Work has already begun on a number of units nationwide, including retail outlets in the Surrey, Yorkshire and Herefordshire regions, and Scope will consult with Powell Williams throughout the duration of its growth programme.

Melissa Potter, Retail Property Manager for Scope, said: "In the short time we have been working with Powell Williams, they have demonstrated extensive knowledge of all aspects of building consultancy and are playing a crucial role in helping us develop our plans.

"We're very pleased to be able to call upon their services as we look to establish a greater presence for the charity across the UK."

Michael Jones, Partner for Powell Williams' Birmingham office, will manage the project with support from the firm's other offices in Chester and London.

He said: "We're very excited to be working with Scope to help them implement an efficient and expansive acquisition strategy.

"By using our vast building consultancy experience we will advise the charity which retail outlets will provide them with the most cost-effective solutions to support their business objectives in the long-term."
