We are delighted to welcome a new Senior Surveyor from Manchester's Black Cat Consultancy. Ross Wilson, a RICS chartered surveyor and experienced investment manager, has joined the Powell Williams team in Chester.

Having trained and worked at Savills and CBRE, Ross has worked internationally for a number of investment management firms including Select Property in Dubai and IP Global in Hong Kong. He was also a founding partner of Blackfish Ltd in Hong Kong, growing the residential investment management firm from one to six offices across the Far East in just over a year.

Returning to the UK after five years abroad to settle in Cheshire with his family, Ross has since provided consultancy for Tatton Estates and latterly Black Cat. He now joins Powell Williams on a permanent basis and will provide a boost to the business in the North West as it continues its client-led growth.

Andy Williams, founding partner and head of the Chester office, said: "Ross has a wealth of building surveying experience and commercial awareness which makes him an extremely valuable asset for our clients. We will be introducing him primarily to our investment clients where he will be advising on the technical due diligence for their acquisition and disposal strategies, and providing lead surveyor services for a variety of refurbishment projects.

"The business has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and we are in a position of growth, with many existing clients instructing us to look after a broader range of projects than ever before. Ross provides the additional capacity we require to meet the current and growing client demand, especially from the boutique investment funds where our 'clear concise advice' approach to service really resonates with their own ethos."

Initial projects Ross will be working on include two £2.5m refurbishment schemes for client assets in the North of England, and an office upgrade in Cheshire. He said: "This role is exceptionally fortuitous for me as I was looking for an opportunity in my home town of Chester, where I could continue to work at the level I've achieved over the last 15 years. Here, I will be part of a national consultancy working alongside highly experienced partners on an extremely impressive portfolio of projects, across all sectors and disciplines, for national and international funds, landlords and occupiers. Powell Williams is a rare find.

The timing is great as the business is on a growth trajectory, exploring new markets and bringing in new clients. I'm looking forward to working with the directors to develop professionally, gaining new knowledge and new perspectives. Hopefully there are things I can give back in return, not least that the experience and networks I developed while working in Manchester, London, Dubai and Hong Kong may assist with the firm's business development."
